The problem with Elementary is not the fact that it’s American or that it’s not written by Moffat it’s the fact that Watson is being played by a woman. Watson (even in the robot version and even in the mouse version) has always been a man. This is so important because it is the partnership between Sherlock and Watson that makes Sherlock Holmes and all of it’s spinoffs so amazing.By bringing in a female element it changes the entire feeling of the show and makes it different. Now there’s undeniable sexual tension between Sherlock and Watson (not that there’s not sexual tension already. I’m definitely not denying that.)

And I’m not being sexist, (I’m a chick.) I’m just saying that it’s a different element than what Sherlock Holmes has always been built around.

Also: why must there be “undeniable” sexual tension just because it’s a man and a woman? Are all men and all women straight? Are all straight men sexually attracted to all women? And vice-versa?
